No other issue today has drawn such attention as the issue of “leadership”. Where “control and command” were the mantra of an earlier age, today “complexity” may represent the central leadership characteristic. The ability to manage in a period of uncertainty requires a different style and type of leader.
The materials in this unit seek to address the question how one leads in these unsettling times. Drawing both upon the literature and case materials, I have made an effort in this section to highlight some of the specific challenges that confront leading institutions at this time.
